SUMMARY

Sporadic in shot selection, Maqsood Ahmed was easily the most entertaining Pakistan batsman in their formative years of Test cricket. He batted without a care in the world and loved to dominate the bowling at all costs. This approach was fraught with risk and it isn't surprising that he never got a century to his name. He did have a 99 though and belongs to a select club of people who got this score without a ton to their name. It won't be wrong to say that Pakistan's Test status came as a result of some really riveting knocks from their batsmen, one of whom was Maqsood. He produced quite a few audacious three-figure knocks in domestic games in England, often leaving the public stunned more often than not. After his playing days, Maqsood became a chief selector and also delved into journalism and television commentary.
